You look good.
I have been a HUGE fan of Glossier for a couple of years now. I have tried most of their products, and have re-purchased so many of them. If you aren't familiar with Glossier - it is a beauty company founded by Emily Weiss.
"When I started Into The Gloss, I wanted to make beauty as much of an element of personal style as fashion. As I interviewed hundreds of women, I became more and more aware of how flawed the traditional beauty paradigm is. It has historically been an industry based on experts telling you, the customer, what you should or shouldn’t be using on your face."
—Emily Weiss, CEO
I really love Glossier's motto - skin first, makeup second. I was surprised to find out that most Glossier employees started out as customers. The branding is fun and current - and I believe that the products are just as great as they look.
I recently purchased the much anticipated Lidstar eyeshadow in Fawn and Slip. Lidstar boasts less shadow, more glow. While it isn't heavily pigmented, the formula lasts all day long. The best part? It doesn't crease at all. (I'm serious!) And the application is so easy - just dab on the lid and blend with your fingertip. I'm definitely thinking of purchasing more shades.
I have been fortunate to experience a few snow days this winter. On days like this, I love to curl up with a steaming cup of coffee and an inspiring magazine or book.
Plants and flowers make my indoor surroundings bright and cheerful. Days off really help me to re-charge. Sometimes I like to put on a record, or binge-watch a show on Netflix.
Other times, I just let my mind wander. I'm always planning my next big project or collaboration.
Snow days are simply dreamy.
Let's talk skin care.
If you're anything like me, you may be experiencing super dry skin due to absolutely insane winter weather conditions. Okay, it isn't as terrible as I make it seem, but my skin begs to differ. Fear not, there are several affordable skin care solutions out there.
First and foremost, find yourself a gentle cleanser that won't leave your skin stripped of precious natural oils. I absolutely adore Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser. A 5oz. tube will run you $20, but it is so worth it for baby the soft skin it leaves you with. If you're able to spend a little more, I am also a huge fan of Farmacy's Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm ($34 Sephora). It is a balm that instantly melts into the skin, dissolving away makeup and residue.
Next, don't forget to tone your skin. Toners help to shrink your pores and also aid in restoring your skin's natural pH balance. A good toner can also provide moisture to your skin. Right now, I'm obsessed with any toner from Thayer's. Run to Target and grab yourself a bottle for around $10 (or stay home and order online.) If you're looking to splurge, get the Rose Deep Hydration Facial Toner from Fresh ($44 Sephora). It contains rosewater and rose flower oil that helps to soothe and nourish the skin, while angelica leaf extract and hyaluronic acid help to retain moisture.
After toning, it's important to follow up with a luscious serum or facial oil. There are several amazing oils on the market. (I often get lost when browsing face oils on Sephora.) I highly recommend the Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil from Biossance ($72 Sephora). This face oil delivers the pure benefits of vitamin C, which is 50 times better than ascorbic acid. It is formulated with 100% plant-derived squalane. It helps to rejuvenate the skin’s appearance and fights free radicals, leaving a radiant glow. It has completely transformed my skin! If you're looking for something a little more affordable, you can't go wrong with The Ordinary's 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil ($9.80 Sephora). This formulation uses 100% pure rosehip seed oil that is both cold-pressed and organic. This oil has been shown to reduce signs of photo-aging and many other skin conditions.
Don't forget to lock everything in with a hydrating moisturizer or cream. Herbivore's Pink Cloud Rosewater Moisture Crème ($48 Sephora) is an absolute dream. This cream hydrates your skin and leaves it with a slightly dewy finish. A more affordable cream that I also love is Neutrogena's Hydro Boost Gel Cream ($14.99 Target). This gel-cream moisturizer helps quench your dry skin and keeps it looking soft. It absorbs quickly like a gel, but has the moisturizing power of a cream. It is formulated with hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in the skin. It is amazing, you guys.
If you have any recommendations or skin care products that keep your skin hydrated during these dry months, send them my way.

Jessica Matrasko is a jewelry maker based out of Los Angeles, California. I came across her stunning pieces while working at the Aveda Institute Minneapolis. She decided to start a business in 2007 after taking various jewelry making classes In Hollywood. Many of her pieces feature precious stones encased in antique gold plating. I adore her bold and whimsical designs. They are so easy to layer and really stand out in my personal jewelry collection.
